These are all simplified expressions of Soma. Combined with the power of essential oils, our Pilates classes support your body from the inside out, helping you move with ease and live well.
The method behind the movement
My love affair with Pilates started 14 years ago following the birth of my two children which left me with a lot of body discomfort. I found a local weekly pilates class and felt noticeable improvement in my aches and pains.
Body Control Pilates ❊
I was delighted to discover Body Control Pilates classes back in 2017 and it was from that point on that my understanding and respect for Pilates was really embedded. As an Interior Designer, I am fascinated by space and that has grown to include the space within our bodies. The ways we move, the shapes we make, how our bodies are designed to work efficiently and glide through space and seeing the difference Pilates makes to us to benefit on a daily basis. In 2023 I was looking for a new avenue to sit alongside my Interiors work and inspired by my teacher Charlotte I embraced in my Matwork Level 3 training with Body Control Pilates in London.
I danced a lot growing up and have been a keen runner for the past 10 years so I really enjoy the balletic influences of Pilates as well as how it rebalances both body and mind. Essential oils have played a strong part in my life over the last few years and I really enjoy weaving these into my classes to aid with breathing and deep relaxation.
Alongside my regular timetable I also host one off events of restorative pilates and sound journeys. My passion for sound journeys began a few years ago whilst on a retreat in Cornwall. Ever since then I have been mesmerised by the strong and powerful vibrations emitted from the bowls during a sound journey session and completed my Sound Healing Practice Level One in Oct 24.
Coupled with guided mediation and slow flow pilates my sounds journeys use the therapeutic tones of crystal bowls & Himalayan singing bowls to promote relaxation and restore harmony within the body and mind. The gentle vibrations produced by these instruments help calm the nervous system, reduce stress, and support emotional balance.
Sound journeys are a valuable complement to SOMA Pilates’ mindful movement, encouraging a state of inner stillness and helping the body recover and rebalance on a deeper level.
